Strengthening a responsive, diverse and democratic civil society in Myanmar

Collaborating partners 2nd CSO forum is being held at Royal Rose Hall, Yangon from 15th September – 16th September, with collaborating partners of the ECCSO Project titled “Strengthening a responsive, diverse and democratic civil society in Myanmar”. This is the second national gathering of the representatives/leaders from 83 CSOs and 10 CSO networks. The event is organized by ActionAid Myanmar, PTE : Phan Tee Eain (Creative Home) and Capacity Building Initiative - စြမ္းရည္ေရွ့ေဆာင္ of the ECCSO team and is being attended by over 120 participants from partner CSOs and Networks. The key note address was delivered by Augustine Hti San from the European Union in Myanmar, a co-funder of the Forum and the ECCSO project.

The forum is off to a great start with many people from diverse backgrounds joining, learning from one another and contributing to the forum. There are a lot of discussions among the various groups which is itself contributing to a democratic civil society. It is indeed a joy that many CSOs have a chance to build solidarity across multi-ethnic groups.
